Versatile OTP oscillator delivers differential LVPECL
for data designers with deadlines

CFPP-620 programmable oscillator

C-MAC MicroTechnology has introduced a one-time-programmable oscillator offering fast delivery at any output frequency between 150 and 700 MHz. Packaged in an industry standard 6-pad 7 x 5 mm ceramic SMD, the new CFPP-620 provides differential LVPECL (low-voltage positive emitter-coupled logic) output, making it particularly suitable for broadband transmission equipment and other data communications applications.

For any predetermined output frequency within the available range, prototypes can be factory programmed and delivered typically within two weeks, making the CFPP-620 ideal for designers that need to turn around high-frequency designs within tight timescales.

Although it is a low-cost, essentially ‘off-the-shelf’ device, the CFPP-620 provides frequency stability of ±25 ppm over its operating temperature range of –40° to +85°C, with ageing effects within ±5 ppm over the first year of operation. Period jitter is specified as 10 ps rms (typical).

The CFPP-620 powers its dual complementary LVPECL outputs from a 3.3 V supply, drawing a maximum of 130 mA, and features a tri-state mode for ease of use with automatic test equipment. It is designed for lead free soldering and compliant with all requirements of the RoHS regulations.

“Thanks to its versatility and fast prototype turnaround, our factory programmable CFPP-620 will be of major benefit to data comms designers in a hurry,” said Peter Sinclair, Applications Support Manager – Frequency Control Products with C-MAC MicroTechnology. “The fact that it offers good stability at a highly competitive price adds further to its appeal.”
