CEO Indro Mukerjee Outlines How C-MAC is Rising to The Challenges Facing the UK Electronics Engineering Industry
C-MAC MicroTechnology CEO speaks at IMAPS annual UK conference
Indro Mukerjee, CEO of C-MAC MicroTechnology, a world leader in high-reliability electronic systems, modules and components for the aerospace, automotive, High-reliablity Industrial, medical electronics and specialised communications markets, today delivered a keynote speech at the annual IMAPS conference. The IMAPS-UK (International Microelectronics and Packaging Society) MicroTech conference and exhibition focuses on advanced microelectronics interconnections, allowing delegates to explore the future challenges and technologies of the industry.
During the Market Watch panel session dealing with the topic, “Is the supply chain broken?”. Indro Mukerjee spoke on the current challenges facing the UK engineering industry. He identified steps being taken by C-MAC to rise to these challenges; the importance of innovation, partnering with other companies to leverage strengths and the importance of recruiting engineering talent. With reference to recent independent research commissioned by C-MAC about the state of the UK engineering skills gap, Indro articulated the role that academics, industry bodies and companies should play in inspiring the next generation of British engineers.
Indro Mukerjee commented: “As the head of a company with a long and proud British heritage, I believe that it is extremely important that industry does all that it can to inspire the next generation of electronics engineers. The Electronics Engineer is the 21st Century Craftsman and it is imperative that industry and academia recognises that a collaborative effort is required to shape the future of UK engineering. Societies such as IMAPS and this conference provide an invaluable contribution in bringing this issue to the forefront of the industry.”
David Lowrie, Conference Chairman of IMAPS UK, commented: “The IMAPS-UK annual conference is now in its 35th year, and provides a fantastic platform for discussing all facets of the electronic industry’s supply chain. In particular, the current skills crisis we are facing is at the top of the agenda and I am confident that this year’s event will stimulate inspiring discussions about what the industry can do to reverse the current trend.”
