Buckinghamshire, 17th May 2007 – C-MAC MicroTechnology, a world leader in high-reliability electronic systems, modules and components for the aerospace, defence electronics, automotive, and specialist High-reliablity Industrial, medical electronics and specialised communications markets, today announced that Margaret Hodge, Minister of State for Industry and the Regions and Tony Wright, MP for Great Yarmouth will tour the company’s Great Yarmouth facility. The visit is in recognition that C-MAC has become the first European company to be awarded a prestigious certification enabling the company to design and manufacture electronic products to the quality and reliability demanded by the US space industry. This event will take place on Thursday 18 May.
The prestigious certification, known as MIL-PRF-38534 Class K Space accreditation, puts C-MAC in a prime position in the space, aerospace and defence electronics sector and is a clear indicator that UK companies can meet the high standards required to operate in this lucrative and tightly restricted industry. The accreditation allows C-MAC the opportunity to compete in the worldwide space industry market, which is currently worth $115bn1 and is predicted to grow at over 17% per annum for the next 10 years. C-MAC has proved that its high standards of reliability and quality make it a worthy recipient of the MIL-PRF-38534 Class K Space accreditation. C-MAC is uniquely positioned to be the European manufacturer of choice for microelectronic modules employed in space and satellite systems across the world.
Margaret Hodge MP and Tony Wright MP are visiting the plant as part of their ongoing support for triumphs in British business and hope to raise the profile of UK companies in the international arena. Margaret Hodge MP is keen to highlight the groundbreaking achievements of this British-based company and has a continuing interest in the development of a skilled workforce to support UK businesses; she has been Minister for Lifelong Learning and Higher Education and is dedicated to supporting innovative British enterprises.
Tony Wright MP has been a consistent supporter of C-MAC, which is the largest non-governmental employer in the Great Yarmouth area, and has highlighted the positive effects the company has had in his constituency in terms of increased employment and better prospects for the engineering and technology sectors.
Indro Mukerjee, CEO, C-MAC MicroTechnology commented, “The recognition of C-MAC’s achievement by the Minister and the support of our local MP reinforces C-MAC’s successes. C-MAC welcomes the debates raised by Mrs Hodge about the future of science and engineering in the UK and, as a local employer, C-MAC supports strategies to increase entry into these employment sectors. We are very excited about the business prospects the accreditation opens up and already have had customers wishing to progress projects made possible by this accreditation.”
Margaret Hodge, Minister of State for Industry in the Regions, added: “C-MAC is the perfect example of a British engineering company that is leading the way with innovative products, high technology training and skills development. Internationally this accreditation recognises C-MAC’s expertise and sets the standard for the rest of Europe.”
