C-MAC MicroTechnology becomes first European company to receive US Space certification

2nd April 2007 - C-MAC MicroTechnology, a world leader in the design and manufacture of high-reliability electronics for the automotive, aerospace, defence electronics, and specialist High-reliablity Industrial/medical electronics markets, today announced that is has been awarded the MIL-PRF-38534 Class K Space accreditation. This accreditation recognises C-MAC’s ability to design and manufacture hybrid microelectronics to the very high levels of quality and reliability demanded by the Space industry. C-MAC is the first European company to receive the accreditation, providing a valuable avenue into an exciting and lucrative market.

The worldwide space industry is currently worth $115bn1 and is predicted to grow at over 17% per annum for the next 10 years. With this Space accreditation secured, C-MAC is uniquely positioned to be the European manufacturer of choice for microelectronic modules employed in space and satellite systems across the world.

To fulfil the MIL Class K criteria, C-MAC’s manufacturing facility underwent a rigorous audit, conducted by DSCC, NASA, The Aerospace Corporation and QinetiQ. Following this, C-MAC is considered to be a certified manufacturer to MIL-PRF-38534 Class H and K effective from March 7th 2007. C-MAC had already set a precedent in fulfilling stringent US electronics manufacturing requirements, becoming the first non-US company to meet the US defence performance specification, MIL-PRF-38534, MIL Class H, in 1992.
