Dynamic & climatic test

Our dynamic and climatic test services are designed to help our customers resolve any end product quality issues. We can provide extremely accurate environmental test simulations that precisely mimic the operational life of a product in the field, and can be used to guarantee specified operating limits.

Our Test & Calibration Centre tests components and assemblies for initial approval and ongoing maintenance programs according to appropriate climatic and environmental test standards such as BS EN 60068 (formerly BS2011), IEC68, IEC 60512, Mil-Std-202, Mil-Std-883, Mil-Std-810, Mil-Std-750 and Mil-Std-1344. Its extensive facilities and our extensive experience also add up to a very useful service for pre-production and prototype testing. For customers experiencing problems in specialist areas, we can help design tests tailored to meet individual requirements. These can include, for example, transport simulation testing to ensure that a customer's shipped product will reach its destination safely in its designated packaging.

The full range of dynamic and climatic tests performed at our Test & Calibration Centre is extensive. The most important test services and capabilities are as follows.

Dynamic test

  • Vibration: Swept 5–5000 Hz sine with a peak thrust of 7.6 kN
  • Random and random-on-random: 5–4000 Hz with a peak thrust of 6 kN
  • All vibration testing is also available at temperatures ranging from –50º to +150ºC
  • Shock: Sine to 3000 gn (30000 gn at low loads) plus a trapezoidal and sawtooth testing capability
  • Bump: 40 gn to 250 lb
  • Acceleration: Testing up to a maximum of 40 kgn.

Climatic test

  • Dry heat: +25º to +300ºC
  • Dry cold: +25º to –75ºC
  • Damp heat: Up to 85ºC, 98% relative humidity, cyclic and steady state with cold capability
  • Low air pressure with hot or cold capability
  • Thermal shock (both liquid-to-liquid and air-to-air)
  • Temperature cycling
  • Electrical endurance
  • Corrosive tests in, for example, salt atmospheres.

Miscellaneous

  • Solvent resistance
  • Robustness of termination conditioning
  • Solderability
  • Measurement including capacitance, temperature, resistance, inductance voltage, current, mass and linear dimensions.
